Amano's illustrations bring to life the story of Princess Budou from the Arabian tale "1001 Nights." This book directly inspired composer David Newman to create the "1001 Nights" project with the LA Philharmonic, and Amano's concept became the genesis for the original orchestral score and 20-minute CG animated film. Amano created the overall design for the "1001 Nights" film, which was featured in the 1999 Sundance Film Festival.
